In gardening, it is important to plant eye catching flowering plants. Colorful plants can make your garden more beautiful because of the colors that surrounds. The flower above is good for gardening because it is not usual and its color red and yellow is very eye catching.

The picture about is of Heliconia flowers. They are extraordinary plants, not only for the beauty of their flowers, but also for the fact that they are so mysterious. Anyone travelling in the tropics will marvel at these large, eye-catching plants when they are in bloom.

Although these large tropical flowers are natives to only Central and South America and some islands of the South Pacific, their easy cultivation and spectacular presence have made them favorite garden subjects throughout the world. They have become increasingly popular as decorative flowers, especially in those regions where they cannot be grown in the garden. Most species of heliconias can be found in wet regions, but some are found in seasonally dry areas.

The genus of Heliconia has about 100 to 200 species of flowering plants. Some of the common names for the genus include lobster-claws, wild plantains or false bird-of-paradise.Taken altogether, these plants are also simply referred to as heliconias.
